Photographed by Alasdair McLellan, the Spring 2024 ad campaign sees Jimin styled in diverse looks from the latest collection. Sleek tailored suits, chunky cable knit sweaters and Dior’s signature accessories are some unmissable elements.

Beyond music, the K-pop idol has always been popular for his personal style, which usually ranges from streetwear to high fashion. And, the latest solo Dior campaign only cements Jimin’s place in luxury menswear fashion.

According to WWD, some of the visuals include striking monochromatic photographs of the BTS member dressed in sleek suits or stylish preppy attire and vibrant coloured images captured in a picturesque forest setting. In the natural backdrop, he can be seen sporting a light blue twisted turtleneck sweater paired with a backpack adorned with the Diamond CD rhomboid motif, as well as a sharp navy suit.

On 8 October 2023, the fashion week commenced with the Chinese brand Icicle presenting its collection. It will continue till 16 October. On the closing day, British designer Stella McCartney is set to make her debut at Shanghai Fashion Week with her latest collection, creating a strong presence in the Asia-Pacific region.

For their Fall/Winter 2023 denim capsule collection, the brand has joined forces with the streetwear pioneer Kenz0 to seamlessly fuse the rich, cultural heritage of Parisian-Japanese pizzazz with some good ol’ American workwear.

During fashion week, one of the more unique (and effective!) ways for fashion houses to introduce their latest collections is via celebrities and their appointed brand ambassadors. While the attendance of celebrities at fashion shows isn’t uncommon, what makes it more special are the instances when they are styled in a brand’s signature look. Andrew Garfield looked pretty in pink at Valentino’s Spring/Summer 2024 showcase at Paris Fashion Week. The luxury fashion house attracted a star-studded crowd for their event, featuring celebrities dressed in their most recent collection. Sitting with Florence Pugh in the first row, Garfield was seen in a lengthy blazer coat in a rich hue of pink, paired with a burnt orange button-up shirt and grey trousers. Besides Pugh and Garfield, we also spotted Cher, Penn Badgley, Maude Apatow, Usher, Simone Ashley, Paris Hilton and Kris Jenner at Valentino’s showcase.

At Louis Vuitton’s SS 2024 showcase, the French fashion house’s celebrity ambassadors were the highlight of the pre-show red carpet.

The actor truly stepped up his fashion game in a stellar skort-style suit. He complemented it with a crisp white button-down shirt and a slim black tie that was accented with a metallic border.

Usher, who was recently announced as the headliner of Superbowl 2024, has been everywhere, especially in the world of fashion. Thai actors and Dior brand ambassadors Mile Phakphum and Nattawin Wattanagitiphat are known for their laidback, uber-cool style. So, it wasn’t surprising to see them be at their effortlessly fashion-forward best at the Dior SS24 showcase. Phakphum opted for an oversized robe dress and trousers, completing his look with white and black sneakers. On the other hand, Wattanagitiphat went for a sheer top and skirt combo which was brought together with a tweed blazer and black gum boots.

Austin Butler

Austin Butler, YSL Beauty’s global brand ambassador, made a front-row appearance at Saint Laurent’s Spring/Summer 2024 showcase. Seated alongside Blackpink’s Rose, Hailey Bieber and Kate Moss, the Oscar-nominated actor was dressed in a lengthy black pinstriped coat with padded shoulders that was layered over a corresponding double-breasted suit. The Elvis actor also rocked a stubble and accessorised with a sleek gold chain and glossy black boots.

Kim HongJoong

Member of the South Korean boy band Ateez, Kim HongJoong attended Balmain’s Spring/Summer 2024 showcase in an impeccable outfit. Think of his look as rockstar chic meets James Bond.

HoongJoong, who was recently announced as a brand ambassador for Balmain, attended the show wearing a classic white dress shirt tucked into formal trousers and paired with a crocodile-embossed rich leather jacket that made for a bedazzling choice (literally!). Coming to the accessories, the singer opted for signature oversized Balmain sunglasses as well as multiple gold rings and earrings.

Troye Sivan

It feels like Troye Sivan had quite an exciting time at Paris Fashion Week 2024.

The singer made his debut as a model and walked for Miu Miu’s SS 24 runway. Additionally, the singer also managed to pull off stylish front-row ensembles for presentations of other labels like Rabanne and Loewe.

Yes, that’s right! Adidas has created a fresh batch of kicks inspired by Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. This move has made sure that the gaming and sneaker communities are brimming with excitement. So much so that, before the game’s launch on October 20, fans are itching to snag a pair of these cool kicks. If you happen to be one of those fans, here’s a lowdown on the epic Adidas x Spider-Man sneakers.

Adidas Drops Ultra 4D Advanced Shoes inspired by ‘Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’

The Adidas x Spider-Man sneakers are the result of its collaboration with PlayStation and Insomniac Games. The resulting Adidas x Marvel’s Spider-Man Ultra 4D Advanced Men’s Shoes draw inspiration from the moment Venom engulfed Peter Parker’s advanced suit with his symbiote. 

And the design? It’s nothing short of spectacular. The upper sports Spidey’s signature red and blue colours, along with Adidas’ trademark white stripes on the sides. While the sole is all black, there’s black mesh over the red and blue sections of the shoe that represents the Venom symbiote taking over.

The collaboration isn’t just limited to footwear.

Called the Peter Parker Advanced Suit and Venom collection, it includes Ultraboost J and Ultra 4D sneakers, the Adizero 12.0 football cleat, stylish sweatshirts and compression tights designed for both gamers and athletes. Not to mention, you can even spot Adidas-branded products within Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 worn by some of the citizens in New York City.

How much will these sneakers cost? 

It’s worth noting that in 2020, Miles Morales rocked a pair of black and red Superstars for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales that were made available for sale by Adidas shortly after the PS5 game’s release. Those low-top kicks came with a price tag of USD 90. We can probably expect these sneakers to cost something similar, though some sneaker enthusiasts have been speculating that the Adidas x Spider-Man sneakers could carry an even more premium price tag.

Like a game of high-stakes musical chairs, creative director appointments in the fashion industry often warrant much attention from both the press and clients alike, especially when it involves the fate of a legacy brand. This is most certainly true in the case of British label Alexander McQueen, who has just announced the appointment of Sean McGirr as Creative Director.

His appointment comes after Sarah Burton’s departure broke cover ahead of the brand’s Spring 2024 showcase in Paris, which saw a rousing swan song from the global fashion elite as Burton took her final bow at the helm of the storied fashion house after a whopping 26 years, 13 of which she spent in the top job.

Alexander McQueen appoints Seán McGirr as Creative Director

As is often the case with departures of such magnitude, the vacancy at Alexander McQueen left a massive vacuum in the European fashion landscape, leading to much speculation as to who the label’s parent company, Kering, would tap next for the role. Rumours initially suggested that Italian maestro Ricardo Tisci would go on to occupy the position after his tenure at Givenchy came to a close in 2017.

However, in what appears to be an increasingly common trend for fashion conglomerates to either promote talent from within their own ranks or poach fresh and undiscovered neophytes from rival design teams, Kering has passed the proverbial baton on to Irish-born designer Sean McGirr.

Who is Seán McGirr?

While fashion industry observers may not necessarily recognise Seán McGirr immediately, his prodigious portfolio indicates a suitable wealth of experience that would allay some concerns as to his suitability for the position at Alexander McQueen.

As one would anticipate, Sean McGirr graduated from the illustrious Central Saint Martins fashion school with a Masters of Arts in Fashion in 2014, and had been employed as a stylist in both Tokyo for Vogue Hommes and Paris before transitioning into the work of a designer. In the capacity of working as a designer, McGirr had several stints in some major heavyweights, among which included Dries Van Noten, Burberry, and Uniqlo under the leadership of Christophe Lemaire at the brand’s studio in Paris.

The Milan Fashion Week has been hosting some of the fashion industry’s biggest names – Gucci, Versace, Fendi, Prada, Hugo Boss and Ferragamo – for decades. Moreover, with Sabato De Sarno’s first collection for Gucci marking the biggest debut of the season, the excitement for the Milan Fashion Week 2024 was at an all-time high.

On September 22, De Sarno showcased his first-ever collection for the prestigious Italian fashion house, bringing back the original minimalistic Gucci essence. Similarly, Bally’s creative director Simone Belloti also showcased her inaugural collection that screamed timeless silhouettes. Not to be outdone, Versace hosted a co-ed show with Donatella Versace, curating stylish offerings for the next summer season featuring signature baroque and Medusa prints, sequins and patterned accessories.

Simply put, the Milan Fashion Week 2024 exceeded everyone’s expectations. We were especially impressed with the menswear collections, especially from popular brands like Versace, Hugo Boss, Ferrari and Bottega Veneta. So, without further ado, here’s a round-up of our top picks in menswear fashion from the recently concluded Milan Fashion Week SS 2024.

The best of menswear at Milan Fashion Week SS 2024

Versace

Versace showcased its co-ed Spring/Summer 2024 collection at Milan Fashion Week. Inspired by the youth, as well as themes of personal confidence and city energy, the collection offered a fresh take for the next summer. It featured a sorbet colour palette including hues such as pastel pink, blue, mint green, pale yellow, light sand and pearl grey. On the other hand, colours like dark ruby, black and white also played a vital role in bringing the collection together.

Coming to the clothes, the collection featured a variety of stylish outfits including a checkerboard overshirt paired with matching shorts, a tailored leather jacket, a checkerboard double-breasted tailored coat, silk-satin checkerboard shirts, tailored wool pants, Medusa ’95 mules and an unisex Athena tote bag. The stand-out piece, however, was a washed denim jacket with intricate pearl and metal Medusa embroidery, perfectly paired with matching pants and metallic leather Medusa ’95 loafers.

Bottega Veneta’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection was a treat for the eyes, with Creative Director Matthieu Blazy borrowing design codes from the house’s rich history. After taking over from Daniel Lee, Blazy has taken a fresh approach to timeless wardrobe essentials, emphasising top-notch craftsmanship and refined designs.

In their latest collection, Bottega Veneta created a fashion-forward jungle experience for attendees. The expansive venue in Milan’s Bovisa district was adorned with hand-painted maps, an ode to Blazy’s adventurous spirit. The runway show kicked off with tweed coats paired with a white shirt and patchwork-style knitwear. As the show progressed, we saw fringed outerwear, striped dress shirts, leather neckties, pleated trousers, co-ord sets with tassels, leather totes and straw bags that added a touch of sophistication and modernity to the ensembles.

Diesel

Ever since his appointment as the brand’s Creative Director, Glenn Martens has continued to garner positive reviews from critics and has even seen a massive boom in business, thanks to his designs being quite a hit among Millennials and Gen Z. Additionally, the Italian brand’s initiative for the general public to experience the fashion show through raffle tickets was also appreciated.

Coming to their Spring/Summer 2024 presentation, the models at Diesel walked the runway under an artificial rain in bleached T-shirts paired with distressed grey bottoms, knitted tank tops, sheer shirts, oversized cardigans, distressed hoodies and track pants, velvet suits, printed tees and tie-dye co-ord sets. Moreover, these outfits had an intentionally deconstructed aesthetic that made them stand out from the crowd.

Bally

Simone Bellotti took over as Bally‘s Creative Director after Rhuigi Villaseñor‘s departure.

At the Milan Fashion Week SS 2024, his models walked the runway in glossy leather shirts, crisp bowling shirts, overshirts, regular crewneck, jackets, ribbed vests and nylon outerwear. Not to mention, sheer and structured suits were a constant throughout the collection, in both menswear and womenswear. Simply put, Bellotti’s debut collection for Bally lived up to the expectations, presenting a refined mixture of timeless shapes rooted in the House’s rich, century-old heritage.

Ferrari

While some might think Ferrari should only be taken seriously for its lavish cars, the Italian brand has made a mark in the world of fashion thanks to its extensive collections. As such, it shouldn’t surprise anyone to find out that the brand kickstarted the fourth day of Milan Fashion Week by revealing its fifth seasonal collection that left the fashion-forward crowd quite impressed.

For its Spring/Summer 2024 collection, Ferrari skillfully crafted a lineup that easily transitions from city life to the race track. Drawing inspiration from its prestigious heritage, the brand focused here on indulgent luxury, with the collection channelling the essence of the belief that ‘dreams turn into reality’.

The presentation started with white monochrome looks like jackets with shorts, long coats, trousers and gloves. Soon, the colour palette moved towards blush pink and navy with pieces such as boiler suits, loose suits and sheer cardigans taking over. Fabrics like denim, leather and corduroy were visibly a large influence with key pieces like jackets, shorts, overalls and two-piece sets setting the tone for the season.

Boss

Hugo Boss’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection was an ode to the futuristic wardrobe. Staged inside Mico Milano’s revolving building, the robot named Sophia greeted guests attending the show at the door dressed in a full Hugo Boss look. Gigi Hadid opened the show wearing a grey pinstriped suit, paired with a low-cut top and a scarf that set the tone for the collection. The menswear outfits comprised classic formal wear offerings such as three-piece suits, long coats, fur-trimmed overcoats, knitwear, leather overcoats, long puffer jackets, V-necked sweater tops and more.

The colour palette of the SS24 collection was also in sync with the Fall/Winter aesthetic with shades of khaki, olive, grey, brown, black, cherry red, white and charcoal being the foundation of the showcase. Additionally, Hugo Boss’ presentation was attended by global stars and ambassadors like Lee Minho, Khaby Lame and Alica Schmidt.

MM6 Maison Margiela

At Milan Fashion Week 2024, MM6 Maison Margiela gave a brand new direction to regular office wear and formals. The reimagined formalwear was given a unique twist, appealing to both working professionals and fashion enthusiasts alike. With over 34 outfits, the collection placed a strong emphasis on edgy suits with classic styles reimagined with the use of white pinstriped fabrics and dark grey tones. Throughout the collection, the brand’s signature deconstructed aesthetic was also visible and pieces such as long coats paired with white shirts and trousers, sleeveless coats and oversized suits brought together the formalwear looks. We also spotted some attractive casual wear ensembles consisting of sleeveless shirts, hoodies, skin-tight tank tops and more.

Onitsuka Tiger

Onitsuka Tiger unveiled its Spring/Summer 24 collection under the creative direction of Andrea Popinou.

The show highlighted the brand’s streetwear-infused appeal, featuring a colour palette of dark hues. The presentation also saw the blending of tailored jackets and overcoats with shorts as well as flowing long jackets being paired with low-top trainers, making for a striking statement on the runway. Some of the other distinct pieces included a printed co-ord set, sheer tops and baggy trousers. Additionally, Momo, the renowned Japanese rapper and member of the South Korean girl group Twice, walked the runway.

What to expect from Versace’s Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2024 showcase?

While details about Versace’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection remain shrouded in secrecy, one thing is certain: it will be a captivating fusion of womenswear and menswear, much like their previous collections.

In the previous SS 2023 showcase, Donatella Versace, the Artistic Director of the fashion house, departed from their signature ‘goth’ aesthetic, at least for Menswear, opting instead for a palette of vibrant hues such as electric fuchsia, neon yellow, princely purple, bright coral, aqua blue and radiant pinks. Expect this year’s SS edition to continue this sensuous trend, with cutout vests likely to dominate the runway. In terms of garments, anticipate a range that includes printed shirts, relaxed suits, lightweight overcoats and wide-legged trousers.

The Versace brand has always been synonymous with having a solid rapport with artists, with various celebrities in attendance at its shows.
